This vintage Guatemalan huipil is 100% hand made. The fabric has been hand-loomed in a deep royal blue with all of the red stitching loomed into the fabric at that time. The piece is then assembled with the additional colored embroidery hand-worked into the piece. This is a true treasure. That said, we consider pieces like this a wardrobe staple. This fabric is more of a three season weight - unless breezy summer nights on the beach are in your plans. We say, wear your heirlooms! :)
measurements taken lying flat:
width 27.5"/length 26.5"//sleeve opening 9" ... FYI! neck opening at shoulder 5.75"/neck depth from center top 2.5" - this is a small neck opening (as is traditional with Guatemalan huipls) I have a an XL women's head and I can squeeze it over without much trouble. Do consider it a decorative high-necked piece!
(fyi: sleeve opening can be adjusted to fit with a lil snip or a few extra stitches)
details: Each vintage hand-worked piece may show some variation in continuity of stitching or small 'flaws' - all part of what we consider the inherent charm of this project and these resultant as/is pieces! Take your measurements and order carefully as we do not offer returns.
